Volunteer Descriptions

 

volunteerpicture.jpgGate Supervisors/Greeters - consists of greeting attendees at the door, collecting admission fees (cash box provided), distribution of hand-outs and attendee sign-in. Approx. time - 1 hr. per volunteer/workshop. Approx. 8 workshops/year.

Hospitality - consists of purchasing (reimbursement provided) and setting up supplies for coffee and edibles. Also includes cleaning up food and beverages as well as coordinating storage of non-perishable items at Needham ARC. Approx. time - 2 hrs. per volunteer/workshop. Approx. 8 workshops/year.

Annual Report - will work with newsletter committee chair in gathering articles written by SPaN members and reporting on other current newsworthy events (conferences, workshops from other organizations, legal updates, etc.). Approx. time - 3 hrs. per month/volunteer.

Website - volunteers will work with SPaN's outsourced webmaster and SPaN's website chair to coordinate the current website for both SPaN members and public use. Includes on-going management of updates, evaluation of site's relevance and effectiveness through member feedback and periodic site inspection. Approx. time 3 hrs. per month.

Public Relations - Will establish and build collaborative relationships with other groups/agencies, both profit and non-profit, who serve children with special needs and their families. Will work with such organizations as the Federation for Children with Special Needs and Asperger's Association of New England. Also includes advertising SPaN events and the development/distribution of promotional items and SPaN literature. Approx. time - 5 hrs. per month/volunteer.
