Letter from our President

July 2008

Dear SPaN Members,

I feel honored to be the incoming President of SPaN for the 2008-2009 year.  We have a terrific Board of Directors this year. They are motivated and strongly invested in the advancement of our profession.  We have a long history of committed and dedicated leaders, who created and nurtured SPaN for many years.  Our current Board has inherited a solid foundation of ideals and practices to build on for the future.

We cannot, however, do it alone.  We are an organization largely of volunteers, and we need your assistance.   To do the “day to day” work of the organization, we need your help on committees.  To bring SPaN to the next level as a professional organization that can represent the needs of the advocates in our community, we need your presence at our workshops, your involvement on our committees and your support through membership dues and professional listings.  Our goal as an organization is to been seen in the educational and advocacy community as strategic partners to guarantee that all children’s educational needs are being met.  To participate at this level, we need to have a strong presence “at the table.”  You can help us do this by continuing your membership and being a part of the organization.

            Opportunities for volunteering include:

I encourage you all to find a way to participate in SPaN. I look forward to seeing you at one of the many exciting educational programs planned for this year.

Warm Regards,

Reva Tankle
